NPF Farmer Wing plant trees

Our Correspondent Kohima | May 18   The NPF Farmers Wing of 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency today undertook a plantation drive at Sechü Zubza. Tree saplings were planted in and around Sechü Zubza, mostly in public places and government institutions.   The plantation drive started with Lhousarovi Paul Rino, PS to Minister for Social Security & Welfare Kiyaneilie Peseyie, planting the first sapling at the premises of Soil and Water Conservation Training Institute (S&WCTI). Over 100 saplings were planted at S&WCTI, while the rest were planted at the premises of Veterinary Dispensary and some public roads.

In a brief programme held before the commencement of the plantation, Lhousarovi Paul highlighted the importance of a greener planet and stressed on the need to plant more trees in our locality.   “On hot and sunny days, everyone goes in search of shed and protection under the trees, but very few of us realizes the need to plant even a single tree,” he said, and urged every citizen to respond to global warming by planting more trees every day.   “By planting even a single tree, you are contributing immensely towards global warming and its challenges.” He added that the plantation drive will set a good example for others to see.   S&WCTI’s Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Limasunep thanked the Farmers Wing for planting trees in the S&WCTI compound. He told the trainees to carefully nurture the tree saplings and urged them to keep planting more trees wherever they go.   NPF Farmers Wing 8th Western Angami A/C president, Neivilhoutuo John Sechü said the plantation drive was initiated with an aim to move towards a cleaner and greener environment.
