NPF Peren Div highlights mis-governance and lackadaisical attitude of PDA govt in 2018

Peren, January 2 (MExN): The NPF Peren Division total issued a press statement highlighting the “mis-governance and lackadaisical attitude of the PDA government in the year 2018 towards the people of the State and in particular towards Peren District”

The NPF Peren division alleged that innocent officers have been transferred based on allegations of being not a supporter of NDPP while some officers were made to suffer on account of their kith and kin working against NDPP.

In the statement issued by NPF Peren division, president, Haigam Kauring, the party stated that the first was the diversion of the funds and projects sanctioned under Special Road Development Program (SRDP) for Peren District. Of the many projects diverted, the improvement of the Peren-Tening road has been one of the worst affected. “The local NDPP MLA of the Tening Constituency has been a sitting duck and lacks the caliber to stop the diversion nor is he able to bring about any other schemes for improvement or repair of the said road which is in a deteriorated condition,” it claimed.

While stating that Peren-Tening road is not only the lifeline for the Tening area but also significant interstate road as it connects Leikie in Assam and Tamei in Manipur, the party reported that the previous Government had included this road in priority list under NLCPR during 2016-17 and subsequently DONER Ministry has retained and approved for sanction. However, after the NDPP led PDA government was formed, the local MLA proposed for change of name of the project from Peren-Tening into Tening-Peren with the same estimated amount and distance which has, in the process, only delayed for sanction.

Another alleged made was that the previous DAN Government has magnanimously upgraded the Tenning SDO Hq to ADC Hq and the Ahthibung EAC Hq to SDO Hq but the present PDA government has ignored the people of Peren District and this two administrative offices has been without its officers after the NDPP led government came to power.

It is learnt that centre has sanctioned and an additional grant of Rs. 185 crores for the Grant in Aid (GIA) to the VDBs in the State for three years, ie. 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, has been released before the State Assembly elections.

owever, due to model code of conduct the previous DAN government could not release the fund. The PDA government has released the GIA for one year but there is no sight of the GIA to the VDBs for the other two years.

The division, however questioned “why and what has been keeping the government from releasing the backlog GIA funds of the remaining years for the last nine months, which are rightfully for the villagers of Nagaland? Is Peren District alone being affected or does it pertain to the whole VDBs in the State? Is this the ‘Change’ that the NDPP has promised to the people? Who is holding this public money when the Centre and State finance had released the same to the Department?”

The NPF Peren Division stated that it is restrained to point out this anomaly as RD Department is the only department, and particularly the GIA scheme, which touches every household in the State. And when Centre and State finance has made the fund available yet kept on indefinite hold, without any valid reason, it is the paramount duty of any concern to question the same.

Meanwhile, the party conveyed that may the New Year 2019 bring about new insights to the current dispensation and work for development and progress of the State of Nagaland without any prejudice and vice.
