Stating that the NPF will abide by the directive of ECI, MPF Spokesperson, Achumbemo Kikon today stated that the same order was directed during the 2015 crisis and accordingly a special General Convention was held on 30th April, 2015 at IG Stadium.

The convention had reaffirmed the election of Shürhozelie Liezietsu and his set of office bearers who were elected on 26 November 2014. “As per directive of ECI we will call a General convention and once again reaffirm the same which will be submitted to the ECI and the decision will be taken,” said Kikon during the inauguration of a new office for the NPF 9th Kohima town A/C today. He added: “I would like to assure the gathering that we have won the battle. We have won 99.9%. We just have to complete the formality and submit it to ECI.”

“The order also indicates that the unauthorized convention which was conducted by the Hotel Legacy group on September 20, 2017 has outrightly been rejected. It is an outright rejection of the so called unauthorized general convention where a group of people from nowhere were drawn in the stadium. We can safely term that this general convention is the biggest embarrassment of this century,” claimed Kikon viewing that the order has also proven all the activities, actions including the general convention of the other group is “illegal.”

Kikon also informed that NPF has instituted a civil suit in the civil court for ‘impersonating our President, using our letterhead, nomenclature and our symbol’ claiming it as illegal activities.

“Even the whip case, they are trying to escape every now and then. There is no justification on their part to face the court and therefore their only weapon instrumental for then is to delay and pray to the court to give them more time,” stated Kikon.

The NPF Spokesperson also pointed out that Kohima town is the most prestigious constituency amongst the 60 constituency which is a constituency not only for the Angamis but for the entire Nagas.

“Only truth will prevail. We will do what is right for the Naga people and we will stand for what is truth. We will only stand when it is right even if it means standing alone,” remarked Kikon.

Earlier, the NPF 9th Kohima Town A/C inaugurated its new office located next to Jack and Jill store, PR Hill.

Kesoneilie Theünuo, Working President, Kohima Division exhorted the gathering that the new office should be used for party works, for the progress and strengthening of the party and its workers. Hoping that the office will produce good leaders who can lead Nagaland to better days, Theünuo also mentioned how during times of crisis only a few party workers remained.

“9th Kohima Town A/C is the backbone of Kohima division,” said Theünuo mentioning that this constituency has contributed their support and services immensely to Kohima.

Recollecting the NPF crisis this year, Neizokhotuo Belho, President, NPF 9th Kohima Town A/C stated that the Kohima division attempted their best efforts resolve the crisis, failing which a new team was formed during the Central Review Committee on June 3.

Providing a brief account on the history of NPF, Achumbemo Kikon asserted that NPF, one of the oldest regional parties in the North East, was formed on the basis that it will represent the aspirations and dreams of the Nagas.

“At no point of time have we deviated from the principles and aims and objectives of party. Unfortunately, in the years since its formation, some people have joined the party and used the party for their selfish gains,” said Kikon adding that party was formed to lead and serve the Nagas. Kikon further noted that the crisis in NPF is not a crisis but rather a ‘hiccup’ where like the Sovima crisis in 2015, a similar episode is being repeated.

However, the order released by ECI on October 17, according to Kikon, indicates that, 'The writing on the wall is clear’, where the ECI has directed the NPF to conduct General Convention as per the provision which is available in the NPF constitution.
