National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland on Tuesday said it would seek more seats and adequate representation of Nagas in the both the Parliaments for Naga voices to be heard and quicker realization of development.
“It (NPP) will pressurize the Central Government to allot additional seats in both Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha ….to enhance our role in policy making vis-a-vis the majoritarian role of MPs from mainland India,” the party stated in its manifesto for the 13th State Assembly Elections 2018. The manifesto was released at its Dimapur office on Tuesday by NPP Nagaland Manifesto Committee members.
The party also assured of effective support towards the Naga political solution besides giving focal attention towards development of Eastern Nagaland and other lesser developed regions in the state.
Development of roads and better connectivity with rest of the country and South-East Asia was another point stated in the manifesto.
The manifesto promises to modernize and upgrade the airport and railway station in Nagaland. Further, the party seeks to fight for gender equity, women and youth empowerment, development of sports and youth resources.
Generation of more electricity, agricultural development through sustainable growth, promotion of tourism and cultural heritage of the Nagas were some of the issues promised in the manifesto.
The NPP Nagaland Manifesto Committee for 2018 elections include G. Viccashe Sumi, IGP (retd) as Convenor, Andrew Ahoto Sema as Co-Convenor and D.P. Angami, Kheapon Tikhir and Samuel Sim as members.
