Dimapur, October 9 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has expressed grieve over the untimely demise of (L) Captain Phaningmi Awungshi of Security Task Force (STF) Battalion, Naga Army from Phalee village under Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) on October 8 after a prolonged illness.
NSCN (IM) in a condolence message issued by its MIP stated that late Awungshi was enrolled in the Naga national service on February 2, 2008. “He served Naga nation with unwavering national spirit until his demise. The void created by his demise would be difficult to fill in. For his selfless contribution to the Naga national cause, his name shall be recorded in the pages of Naga history and his sacrifices ever be cherished by all,” it added.
Further, the office of the Longvibu, Naga Army bestowed upon him posthumously the rank of Major in recognition of his service to the Naga nation.
“At this hour of sorrow,” the NSCN (IM) has conveyed its deep condolences to the bereaved family members and prays to the Almighty God to grant his soul eternal peace and rest.
