NSCN (IM) says GoI trying to backtrack on their commitment

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 12 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has now accused the Government of India (GoI) of trying to “twist and backtrack on their commitment and words” after 22 years of intensive negotiation so that the hard-earned Framework Agreement is nullified on any pretext.

An MIP release from the NSCN (IM) on Saturday expressed surprise that the GoI is trying to hijack the outcome of the talks by using a section of people who it stated are “not mandated and do not represent the Naga people and the Naga national issue.”
Reiterating its demand for a national flag and a separate constitution, the NSCN (IM) said the Naga national flag is the symbol of the recognized Naga identity while the Constitution of the Nagas is the book form of the recognized sovereignty and mutually agreed competencies.

It stated that the NSCN is deeply committed to the Framework Agreement, and that it will stand by it at all costs in all events. It also strongly opposed to imposition of one’s will on the other.

The NSCN (IM) also made it clear that any proposed solution that betrays the Naga national issue will be but repetition of the past mistakes. “We are sure it will be a great loss for both the two peoples if we miss this finest opportunity. After all, the truth never dies. No power in history has ever destroyed it,” it stated.
