NSCN (R) allege increase in corrupt practices in government departments

Tuensang, July 26 (MExN): The NSCN (Reformation) Chang Region has alleged that corruption and illegal practices have increased compared to previous years in medical and education departments in Tuensang HQ. However, a press release from Kilonser Imlongnukshi Chang noted, the other departments are neither “crystal clean and clear.”

In light of the accusation, Imlongnukshi, who is the Tuensang district in-charge cum chairman, NSCN (R) Chang Region stated that government doctors and nurses should not sit in private clinics. “They should be present in their respective (posting) place,” the release stated.

It was further alleged that in Tuensang HQ, the government hospital does not have free medicines and first aid kits even during delivery. Even cotton, bandage and gloves etc have to be purchased by patients, it said, adding no scheme of government meant for the benefit of general public is followed/implemented properly.

Regarding the education department, the release lamented that “government qualified teachers appointed to impart knowledge to students mostly engage themselves in other activities without staying in their respective place of posting (school).” The VEC/WEC empowered to check the sincerity of teachers, it claimed, have “failed miserably.” In government schools, free items including Mid-Day Meals meant for the poor innocent children are diverted by officials entrusted to distribute, the NSCN (R) alleged.

The release maintained that enough tolerance has been shown to all departments for their “corrupt and illegal functioning” with no corrective measures taken by HoDs as if "backward people are easy to be fooled.” It asserted that all practices ongoing against the norms of government, especially in medical and education departments, should be stopped. The NSCN (R) cautioned all employees to perform duties in their posting places, failing which, it will initiate action starting August 1.
