In a fast-paced development, the GPRN/NSCN elected its commander-in-chief Gen. MB Neokpao Konyak as the new Chairman of the NSCN and President of GPRN.

Meanwhile, the NSCN (IM) confirmed in an official statement that Gen. (Retd) Kholi has joined its folds.

With the appointment of the new chairman, which took place in an extra ordinary emergency session at Designated Camp Kehoi on Saturday, a declaration from the GPRN/NSCN noted that Gen. (Retd) Kholi had “willfully violated Article 18 of the national Yehzabo (constitution) and party discipline…”

The declaration stated that “on the early morning of January 15, 2016, he left a written document vesting all power and responsibilities to Prime Minister (Ato Kilonser) N. Kitovi Zhimomi till his return.” The GPRN/NSCN, which Kholi had joined in June 2011, also alleged that he “absconded from duty citing ill-health and connived with the adversaries.”

The House at the emergency meeting expelled Gen. (Retd) Kholi from the GPRN and NSCN. The NSCN (IM) also confirmed the report of Gen (Retd) Kholi joining the group through a press statement issued by Secretary S. Among Lim on Saturday evening.

On behalf of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim/Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim, he informed that “Gen. (Retd) Khole has joined hands with Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and General Secretary Th. Muivah of the NSCN in order to forge a common future for the Naga people.”

Another statement from Gen. (Retd) Khole, who joined the Naga national movement in 1956, read, “I have realized and taken the right decision to join the only correct national line under the leadership of Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and General Secretary Th. Muivah.”

“Therefore, in good faith, robust and sound mind on my own volition as a responsible leader I accept and acknowledge their leadership and completely support the present Indo-Naga talk as the only acceptable foundation for our nation’s survival,” Kholi added.

While appealing to all to join the “national line” under the leadership of Isak Chishi Swu and Th. Muivah, Gen. (Retd) Kholi also clarified that he will “continue to work for the cause of the Nagas with full conviction and total loyalty to the end.” In that, “together we shall strife and leave behind a legacy of peace and prosperity for the coming generations.”
