NSF asks all Nagas to participate in Jan 23 rally

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 12 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has called upon all Nagas to participate in the general mass rally scheduled for January 23 at Naga Solidarity Park.

A press note from the NSF informed that the rally is being organized to once and for all impress upon the Government of India to seal the final deal on the ongoing Indo-Naga Political Dialogue before the up-coming Nagaland State General Assembly Election.

“It is not a farfetched reality that the Nagas’ struggle for their sovereign right is abounded not by the individual interest of their political leaders but for the future interest of the whole Naga people at large,” the NSF noted.

“The Federation representing the aspirations and sentiments of the young Naga generation is hereby once again compelled to voice out its utmost concern as the ongoing peace process vis-a-vis political dialogue gets unduly delayed,” it added.

The NSF lamented that despite the lapse of more than 20 years of negotiation and even after signing of the Framework Agreement on August 3, 2015, the “ongoing scenario looks even more perplexed.”

With the Nagaland State Legislative Assembly due for election early this year, the NSF observed that “suspicion is running deep as the up-coming State Assembly Election is likely to create more confusion and delay the ongoing dialogue, negating the spirit and concerted efforts of the Naga people.”

It therefore appealed to all Nagas to participate in the rally.
