NSF terms DoSE statement ‘silly’

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 23 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) today said that it is bewildered by the response of the Director, School Education on the reason cited for delay in distribution of text books and study materials.

“Had the Department been sincerely executing its duties and responsibilities for the timely distribution of text books and study materials to the students, the silly reply of the vehicles being requisition for State Assembly election duty cannot justify their failure, when the students are rendered at the receiving end with no text books and study materials after almost a month of the schools being re-opened,” a press note from the NSF President stated.

The NSF noted that the Department was well aware that, the State was bound for election by early 2018 and knowing the matter of the fact that, the academic session for the students starts by February as well, it was imperative for the Department to make necessary arrangement for timely distribution of text books and study materials “under any circumstances and if at all the text books have already reached Dimapur.”

The NSF stood firm on its demand for distribution of the text books and study materials at the earliest and cautioned that the Federation would not hesitate to initiate its course of action to close down the Directorate of School Education, if it fails to address the issue.

On the matter of the distribution of school uniforms, the Federation appealed upon the Department of School Education and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) to expedite in pursuing the matter with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the State Government.
