NSFA oppose creation of new district in Naga areas of Arunachal

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 8 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation Arunachal (NSFA) organized a meeting on February 7 at Khonsa and opposed the creation of a new district within the territory of Naga areas in Arunachal Pradesh.

A press note from the NSFA informed that the association’s general secretary, Victor Honlem Khangham pointed out that “according to some source of inputs it is learnt that the Government is trying to carve another district from Changlang district for the non Nagas of Changlang district.”

The meeting resolved that “not even an inch of land will be carved from the Naga territory & we will stand tall for our rights and fight tooth and nail if the hidden proposed is factual.”

Gawang Hakhun, President, NSFA meanwhile expressed concern at refugees from Bangladesh identifying themselves as Chakma and Hajongs in some parts of Naga areas in Changlang district. He also appealed to Naga legislators of Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts to stand strongly for the people’s development.

It may be noted that during the meeting the federation changed its nomenclature from Arunachal Naga Students’ Federation to Naga Students’ Federation Arunachal.
