NSLSA members attend all India State Legal Services Authorities meet

KOHIMA, March 17 (MExN): Justice LS Jamir, Judge Gauhati High Court and Executive Chairman Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) and Mezivolu T Therieh, Member Secretary NSLSA today attended the 16th All India Meet of State Legal Services Authorities, which is being held in Guwahati, Assam from March 17 to 18.  

Organized by National Legal Services Authority and Assam State Legal Services Authority, the meet was inaugurated by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Law and Justice and Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.  

Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam delivered special address and also released NALSA’s Coffee Table Book – Celebrating 30 years of enactment of Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 and documentary film, informed a press release from NSLSA.  

Justice Rajan Gogoi, Judge Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA delivered keynote address, Justice Ajit Singh, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court and Patron-in-Chief ASLSA delivered welcome address, and Alok Agarwal, Member Secretary NALSA delivered the vote of thanks.  

During the conclave of the Executive Chairpersons of SLSAs, Chairpersons HCLSC, Member Secretaries SLSAs, agenda on organizational issues and complete digitization of entire functioning of legal services institutions, utilization of legal aid fund, need for training of secretaries of DLSAs, use of artificial intelligence in legal services, legal services to under trial prisoner/convicts etc. were discussed, the release said.
