NSLSA sensitize Mitelephe villagers on govt schemes

The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) today sensitized Mitelephe villagers on government schemes and other public welfare related matters through holding a legal services camp in the village.  

Located in southern Angami area, Mitelephe lies around 20 from Kohima.  

Seyievio Neihu, SA, Directorate of Labour highlighted the salient features of the Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Scheme and invited the villagers to be part of the beneficiary.  

Several construction workers availed on spot registration through this camp.  

In association with the labour department, the NSLSA have been putting its best effort in identifying and connecting the construction workers to this scheme in Nagaland.  

Through legal aid stall, several pamphlets have been made available to enable the villagers to be well versed about their rights, security and privileges as enshrined in the Constitution of India.  

Showing solidarity to this camp, the medical fraternity also extended free medical treatment and medicines. Talking to The Morung Express, an elderly person Neizelie Tsochu (75) said the villagers were acquainted with the various welfare schemes through this camp.  

Stating that the villagers were unaware of many schemes in the past, he thanked NSLSA for bringing the various available schemes into light.  

He was hopeful that the villagers would get benefit through the service and effort of the NSLSA.  

Mitelephe village council chairman Vimerha Peki said majority of the village depend their livelihood through farming.  

In the absence of a medical centre in the village till date, he requested the NSLSA to find ways and assist them on health care system.  

He thanked NSLSA for holding the camp in the village and made them aware of the various welfare schemes. “I am grateful to NSLSA for taking pain to come to our village,” said Diethosano, adding that their concern for the welfare of the rural people is highly appreciated.  

NSLSA member secretary Nino Iralu said the next legal services camp is likely to cover Wokha and Peren district. She said the NSLSA is planning to expand the coverage of the legal services camp by involving the district administration for enrolment of Aadhaar related matter, banking authority for financial literacy programme, statistical department for birth registration and other survey related matter as well as post office for beneficial schemes.
