Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council has appeal to citizens to extend all possible cooperation and hold collective responsibility towards the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur for its prompt and decisive steps taken to curb anomalies involved in the process of obtaining various certificates including indigenous inhabitant certificates.
Chairman, Media Cell & Secretary, I&P, NTC Theja Therieh, while appreciating the DC for this noble exercise said, “despite having various protective laws to safeguard the interest of the bonafide indigenous inhabitants of the State, there are flows at all levels coupling with insincerity and callousness on the part of the law enforcing agencies and field executives.”
The NTC urges the lawmakers and law enforcing agencies to take notice of the prevailing situation, “read the law with all seriousness, and enforce the laws to realize its objectives and give benefits to the rightful citizens.”
Particularly, referring to issuance of certificates of ST or Indigenous Inhabitant certificates, the NTC has urged upon the GBs and VCCs to take on the responsibility of thorough verification of the antecedents of the individual concerned, append their signature, seal to genuine candidates only and refrain from issuing bogus certificates.
NTC further stated that due to fake/bogus certificates being issued, there are instances of jobs and privileges being hijacked by outsiders and floating population depriving the bonafide citizens of the State.
