NU Kohima Campus Annual Literary Day held

Kohima, April 20 (MExN): Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema held its 16th Annual Literary Day on April 19 at RCEMPA Hall, Jotsoma.  

Minister for Technical and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along and Sentilong Ozukum, EAC Medziphema and author of Campus Blues were the guest speakers at the event, which was held with the theme ‘Innovation the key for progress.’  

Temjen Imna Along stressed on the importance of changing and innovating our mentality along with our demands for material development so as to be well informed enough to utilise these developments to the full potential, according to a press release from Noyingbeni T Erui, Literary and Magazine Secretary, NU Kohima Campus.  

Stating that the present government was trying to redefine their approaches for the fullest growth, he encouraged the audience to do away with isms and such practices.  

Sentilong Ozukum meanwhile emphasized the importance of re-innovation in all spheres of society starting from the youths. He highlighted the need to re-innovate “our” way of learning, habits, and mentality, the release said.  

Earlier, P Kothunglo Ngullie enthralled the gathering with a special number, while the Department of English presented a Dumb Act on how technology was replacing all human capabilities causing them to be slaves to technology.  

The second session was a series of inter-departmental contests. Khyochano TCK, Director, Music Academy Kohima and area representative, Trinity College London, Shyien Vihienuo, Deputy Registrar, NU, Kohima Campus, Dr. N. Martina Solo, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, NU, KC judged the choral competition.  

Duet, debate, declamation, and extempore speech contests were judged by Dr. Avinuo Kire, writer, Assistant Professor, Kohima College, Dr. Tiatoshi Jamir, Associate Professor, Department of History & Archaeology, NU, KC, and Mongshai Longshe, writer and poet. Department of English was declared the overall champion.
