NU Lumami campus welcome freshers

Zunheboto, September 1 (MExN): Nagaland University, Lumami 21st Fresher’s Day was held under the theme ‘Cognizance of Dawn’ at I. Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, NU Lumami on August 31.  

Organised by Nagaland University Students’ Union Lumami, NUSU (L), the occasion was graced by Shanavas C, IAS DC Zunheboto as the guest speaker, informed a press release.  

The guest speaker, Shanavas C, IAS DC Zunheboto spoke on the beneficiary of how to become someone great and there is no short cut to success but by dedication, diligence and being a responsible person in society and to value social aspects of life. He also advised the students to wisely choose their career path and venture into different sectors available in the country.  

Prof. Pardeshi Lal, Vice Chancellor NU in his address shared that participation of physically and mentally alert students is the need of the hour to drive the nation on a right track. He acknowledged the Government for their efforts in making education a top priority with the introduction of MOOCs such as SWAYAM, NDL etc and advised the students to make full use of it.  

Earlier, welcome song was presented by Ao Fellowship NU Lumami followed by Presidential address by K. Buche Khiamniungan, President, NUSU (L). Vote of thanks was delivered by Jenato Achumi, Organizing Secretary NUSU (L) and the programme concluded with a benediction from Jetile, Prayer Secretary EUNU (L).  

The programme was followed up by an informal session hosted by Yenwang WK and Meribeni Odyuo with various talent shows from the students. Meanwhile, rounds for Mr & Miss Fresher were held wherein Akumsunep Longchar and Sentirenla Ao bagged the title. In the individual titles Mr Personality and Miss Congeniality was bagged by Luin Jamir and Süyievelü Venuh respectively. Mr & Miss Photogenic was adjudged to Hamlang Konyak and Mughani Phucho.
