The Nagaland University Meriema (KC) held student's body election on May 3 in the University Campus to elect the new executive team for 2018-19 tenure.
A press release from NUSU (KC) informed that there were 23 candidates contesting for 15 different posts. The election was held after speeches by intending candidates followed by questioning round.
Thereafter, the results of the election were declared by the outgoing President Nganlang L. Ong, it added.
According to the press release, the new executive team will be headed by Chongrokhum Sangtam as President; Vice President as Khriethono Lese; Y. Thangliba as General Secretary; and Mercy as Asst.Gen.Secretary.
Among others, Juleever Thüvüry and Nepalito Katty were also elected as the Information and Publicity Secretary and Women Coordinator respectively.
The handing and taking over programme cum orientation for the new team was held on May 11 2018 where the outgoing executives briefed the new executives about their own portfolios and handed over power, authority and responsibilities, the release added.
