Nuklutoshi apprises Union Minister of Nagaland's pitiable godown conditions

KOHIMA, September 5 (NEPS): Adviser, Food & Civil Supplies (FCS), Government of Nagaland, Nuklutoshi today met Union Minister for Food & Civil Supplies Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan, at the latter’s office chamber in New Delhi, and discussed about the pathetic condition of the State’s godowns which were constructed way back in the 1960s. The Adviser informed the Union Minister about the State’s proposal for the construction of 100 & 50 MT capacities godown at various PDS centers in all the 11 districts under Food & Civil Supplies Department. The State was seeking for financial grant amounting to Rs. 49,51,81,100.00 (forty-nine crores fifty-one lakh eighty-one thousand and one hundred) for the construction of the said godowns, he said. Nuklutoshi also apprised the Union Minister to release the pending payment of Rs 11,54,33,979.00 (eleven crores fifty-four lakh thirty-three thousand nine hundred nine) which were supposed to defray the cost of movement and handling charges of the food grains in the State. It said due to the non-payment of the money, the smooth distribution of food grains throughout the State has been hampered.
