NVCO to celebrate Int'l Women's Day

Kohima, March 7 (MExN): As part of its two weeklong observance of ‘World Consumer Rights Day,’ Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) will celebrate International Women's Day on March 8.

NVCO had launched its two-week observance on March 1 with the theme ‘Making digital marketplaces fairer.’

“The Organisation realised that to educate women of their consumer rights is educating the society,” stated a press release from NVCO Press & Media Cell.

Further, it quoted the NVCO president, Kezhokhoto Savi as saying that this International Women's Day, UN Women celebrate the rural and urban activists who have transformed the lives of women around the world.

“From grassroots campaigns to global movements, women's activism over the decades has paved the way for women's rights and a more equal future. The day marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The day also celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women,” he added.

Rural women ensure food security for their communities, build climate resilience and strengthen economies, yet achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls is the unfinished business of our time, the NVCO president added.
