NWU condemns alleged assault on woman officer

Senapati, January 25 (MExN): The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has condemned the alleged assault and harassment of the woman IPS officer by Assam Rifles personnel at Khudengthabi Check Post on January 19. As per news reports, the officer was assaulted at a check post near Moreh town under Tengnoupal district, Manipur. “It is very unfortunate that such crimes were meted out even to a woman in security force,” a condemnation note from the NWU said. It has appealed the government and the concerned authority for immediate and suitable measures to prevent escalation of all forms of discrimination against women and to ensure security to the women and innocent citizens.
