NYK Kma begins Swachhta Pakhwada

Kohima, August 2 (MExN): Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Kohima in collaboration with Nagaland’s Directorate of Urban Development Swachh Bharat Mission organized a seminar on cleanliness and hygiene with the theme ‘One Step towards Cleanliness’ on August 1 at LCS Building, Kohima in observation of Swachhta Pakhwada.  

Resource person Adi Nakhro, Consultant (IEC) WSSO PHED challenged the youth to work as partners and face the huge responsibilities that lie ahead, according to a press release. She also advised the use of sanitation toilets quoting the slogan, "No see, no touch, no smell."  

She further pointed out health hygiene and solid & liquid waste management as the key issues of waste management. "Personal hygiene is the overall wellbeing of a person," she added.  

Nakhro further stressed on the principles of waste management which includes the 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Summing up her speech, she quoted Mother Teresa, "If everyone would clean their doorsteps, the whole world would be clean."  

Swearing of the Swachhta Pakhwada Pledge was led by Swedehol Thol and the action plan of the 15 days Swachhta Pakhwada was briefed by Peter.
