The One Timers wins ‘Battle of the Bands’

The Inter School Music Fest under the banner ‘Battle of the Bands’ took place here today at Kevilhouü Rio Auditorium with the participation of nine bands from eight schools.

 

Individual  Award


The One Timers from Chandmari Higher Secondary School emerged winner of the fest followed by The Gears, Model Higher Secondary School, Kohima as the runners up. The Headhunters Thunderclaws from G.Rio School was adjudged the promising band. 


Bands from Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School, G.Rio School, Coraggio School, Mezhur Higher Secondary School, Baptist High School, Dainty Buds School and Northfield joined the event.


Judges for the event were Obed Kath, Bendang Kichu, Toshiamoa Jamir and Temjen Jamir.


Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, Theja Meru, Advisor Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) stated that music is highly a competitive industry and therefore urged the youngsters who aspire to take music as full time or as career to work absolute hard and stay absolutely focused to excel in the field of music.


“In order to be a great and exceptional musician, you should practice for atleast 10,000 hours,” he said.


“Practice 3 hour every day, be it guitar, violin, piano, bass, drums,” he said.


He also informed the gathering that many exciting events are coming up for the youngsters across the state. He said that TaFMA has initiated Open House to promote musicians at the grass root level, to nurture new talents and also provide platforms for local musicians of all ages and genres. He said that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is kind enough to allow TaFMA to plan and exercise things which will reach the youngsters in the days ahead.


The fest was organised by Art & Design Department of G. Rio School Kohima and sponsored by Richa Productions, TaFMA Project Director Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Petros Dance Studio, Penta School of Music, Temsuwaten principal G.Rio school and Vizolenuo Solo.
