Wokha, September 27 (MExN): Team Metamorphosis, an NGO based in Wokha Town, has highlighted the neglected condition of the lone Government High School in VK area under Zunheboto district.
The VK Area Students' Union, VK Area People's Organization, and VK Area GBs Association on September 26 had invited Team Metamorphosis to witness the infrastructures of the lone Government High School in their area, lamenting that even after fifty years of its establishment as a town, VK area has only one Government High School which started in 1964 as a Government Middle School, informed a press release from Team Metamorphosis.
It was informed that the school was upgraded to Government High School in 1986, but till today the government has not sanctioned any fund for the up-gradation of its infrastructure. “In other words, the building which was constructed in 1964 for the GMS is still the same with broken and rotten timber walls, floors, doors and windows sheltering one hundred and ninety one bright looking precious High School students with a set of dedicated teachers,” the release stated.
“When the whole world knows that education is the most powerful tool in bringing transformation in the society, how can any government give such a blind eye depriving the students of the area in particular quality education,” it further questioned.
“The government and concerned department are answerable for the treatment meted out to the citizens of VK area,” Team Metamorphosis added.
