MP KG Kenye graces 7th cultural festival of Phokhungri Area Cultural Society

Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) KG Kenye graced that 7th cultural festival of Phokhungri Area Cultural Society (PACS) on April 11 at Shilloi Lake, Liitsam under the theme “Our culture, Our Identity.”  

Speaking on the occasion Kenye expressed happiness that Shilloi Lake has turned a tourist spot, attracting both domestic and international tourists. He also acknowledged G. Kaito Aye for initiating in setting up tourism amenities at Shilloi Lake during his minister in-charge of Tourism.  

Kenye said that when our culture is lost our identities is also lost and call upon the gathering to preserve their rich culture. Naga tribes have little differences in culture like singing tune, language, dress, dancing etc. which signifies their identities.  

He also said that Nagas have the highest traditional self-governance (ownership of land) and urged the people to follow the good legacy of the ancestors like honesty, friendliness, hard work, kindness and trustworthy which are diminishing in our society.  

Lazithu Trakha, general secretary Phoyisha Area Public Organization called upon the people to stay united, adding that everything is possible through unity and peaceful environment. He also made an appealed to the concerned authority to help improve the road condition within Meluri Sub division for all round development the Pochury community.  

Earlier, PACS president Thimu Feedhu delivered presidential address. Cultural troupes from New Thewati, Siitsii, Laluri, Zhipu, Phokhungri, Old Thewati and Liitsam performed folk songs. The festival was marked by indigenous games, folk dance and archery competition.
