Mimkut Mini Hornbill Festival concludes


Peren, January 17 (MExN): ‘Our society identifies no superior tribe, and all are equal partners, agaland Deputy Chief Minister and Minister In-charge for Home & National Highways, Y Patton stated today.


In this regard, he exhorted the gathering at the third and final day of 8th state level Mimkut Mini Hornbill Festival in Peren to “grow and progress together as one family.”


According to a DIPR report, the Deputy CM also mentioned that the present PDA Government is People-Centric, committed for development and welfare of the people where it wants to take everyone onboard.


Give support to the effort of the present Government towards development and progress of the society, he urged.


Gracing the final day, Patton extended greetings to the Kuki Community on behalf of the Government of Nagaland on the occasion.


“Mimkut signifies the love and the bond of humanity, be it within brothers, families, friends and the society at large,” he stated and reminded that it “taught us love, sharing and oneness that brought the people closer in the good times and the bad.”


This beautiful message is the need of the hour in the present Naga society that needs to be inculcated, Patton emphasized.


Stating that Kuki Community has contributed immensely in the progress of the modern day Nagaland including Social Organizations, Political movement, Religious, Government Sectors, Education etc, he noted that he had the privilege of working with some of the high ranking Government officials from Kuki Community both serving and retired Officers.


“The contribution of the Kuki Community in the progress and in making of a strong and vibrant Nagaland is indispensable. I appeal to all the Kuki elders to continue rendering their selfless services to the society as we strive to get along with the rest of the World.”


He also reminded the gathering to not forget the great man Late Lengjang Kuki who was one of the members to sign the Simon Commission in 1929.


The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Kashiho, Minister for Soil, Geology & Mining; Kazheto Kinimi, Advisor CAWD; Dr Longrineken, Advisor for Directorate of Treasury & Border Affairs; H Haiying, Advisor for Printing & Stationary; Namri Nchang, Advisor Water Resources Department.


According to the report, the function started with Mimkut theme song while welcome address and presentation was delivered by Alun Hangsing, NCS Secretary to the Government of Nagaland. Highlights of the programme were presentation of melody by Irine Gangte, seventeen tribes unity dance by KSU Chümoukedima, YSU Phaipijang and YSU Dimapur, tribal music display by men and women folks, Kuki cultural troupes from various villages.
