PAC NCD condemns ‘cross border extortionists’

Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Public Action Committee(PAC) of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) today, lauded the Dimapur Police under the Commissioner of Police, for apprehending the 4 (four) “extortionists” from Dimapur on August 20.


The PAC NCD in a press release issued by its Convenor Vekhosayi Nyekha and Co Convenor Gokheto K Chophy stated that the Committee is shocked to learn that “criminals” from outside the state have begun to make “our commerciality a haven to hide and sojourn.” 


It further demanded that the “cross border extortionists from Ukhrul Manipur, Hisar Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh,” who were apprehended from Dimapur “should not be given bail under any circumstances but be booked with befitting punishment.”


The PAC also held that the Committee is striving to fight against such illegal collection, extortion etc, and will not shy away from taking punitive measures. It warned “outsiders” not to belittle the efficiency of the police forces. The Committee also warned those who harbour such criminals that they will also be held equally accountable.


It further informed the Dimapurians not to hesitate to inform the Dimapur Police and the PAC on any activity of “illegal demand, extortion etc,” as “Dimapur public is tired of such activities and prepared to boldly fight together against this menace which have affected our city for a long period of time.”
