Pakistan army resorts to mortar shelling in Poonch

Jammu, October 3 (IANS) The Pakistan army violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday by resorting to indiscriminate firing and mortar shelling at Indian positions in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.   Police said the Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing and mortar shelling at Indian positions on the LoC in Shahpur area of Poonch district.   "Pakistan army used 83 mm mortar shells to target Indian positions on the LoC in Shahpur area of Poonch district," a police officer said.   "Indian army retaliated to the Pakistan firing and shelling using equal calibre weapons," he added.   "Heavy firing exchanges is still continuing," the officer said.   On Sunday night, Pakistan Rangers resorted to indiscriminate firing at Indian positions in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district, whcih was retaliated by the Indian troops.   An Indian Army camp in Baramulla district came under attack by fidayeen militants in which one BSF trooper was killed while another was injured.
