PDA: No longer people's government

Eyiekhrote Vero Pfutsero Town When the NDPP-BJP together fought for power in this year's election to the state assembly under its famous slogan "Change is Coming," the people of Nagaland hoped for better governance unlike the last government. In its promise to improve road conditions and other development within 60 days and 100 days respectively, the people of Nagaland were eager to see the long desired development in the state. The removal of so called 'VIP Culture' was a great achievement of the government and excitement of the people.   However, things didn't go according to what have been promised. The concept of ‘Change is Coming' was either misunderstood by the people or its meaning has been different. The "60 days" promise was changed to "60 Working days." People understood the difficulties of making so much development in a limited period of time, nevertheless, the government could have admit its difficulties instead of making excuses. In fact, no development of road conditions is found in most of the districts in spite of its promise of "60 working days." The promise of bringing efficiency and transparency in the government is rather in nature and not in spirit.   The People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) cannot be accepted as people's government as far as the removal of Nagaland DGP Rupin Sharma is concerned. Nagaland has been waited for long for such an honest officer in the state. It is clear that the removal of Sharma as DGP of Nagaland was not on any other reason but of his honesty as well as efficiency and that the government’s decision was not based on people's voice and will. In spite of people's demand to retain Sharma as DGP of Nagaland, the government appointed an Officer who is less experienced than Sharma whom the government claimed to be inexperienced is an act of inaccuracy in its governance.   The PDA Government, thus, is no longer a People's government rather a government of its own interest. The Government must understand that democracy must be exercised both in nature and in spirit and that it is the will of the people that prevails in democratic government. It doesn't matter how efficient or good a government may be, democracy is the government where the wishes of the people stand valid and prevails. Therefore, the government must reconsider the demand and wishes of the people in all its policies and governance of the state.
