Peace Channel impart leadership skills in Peren

Peace Channel, Peren Chapter conducted a Leadership Skills training at All Saints School, Peren on February 18.   Attended by the church and community leaders from Peren Town, the training had Dr. Rev. Fr. Francis, Principal, St. Xavier College, Jalukie as the resource person.

He stressed on the concept of leadership and the skills needed for a good leader, informed a press release from Peace Channel. To make the session more participatory, the resource person began with some exercises where all the participants got involved.

Some of the skills of a leader he focused on were risk taking capabilities, being visionary, courageous, good communication skills, team work, competency etc.

In order to be an effective leader, one needs to have a good influencing and convincing power, should have the potential and capability to demonstrate in performance and live an exemplary life by being a doer and not just merely a speaker, Fr. Francis stated.   “He/she should have the skills to bring people together and unite them inspite of all differences, encourage them to accept and respect the differences as we all believe in one Supreme God,” the resource person added.

He also reflected on the present scenario of Naga society by giving an example of the quality of the leaders in the past and present. The culture of hard work, truthfulness, patience, unity, love, belongingness barely exists in our society at present, according to him. “Thus, we have become the victims of our own deeds.”

To make a difference in life, the resource person added, “we just have to pause for a while from our day to day lives, reflect, think, analyze, make a wise decision for a better and a brighter future.”

Meanwhile, Vikhuli, the Project Coordinator, Peace Channel enlightened the participants with an insightful session on peace and peace building. She encouraged the participants to join hands together and be peace builders in the society.   The participants also shared their views and ideas on the sessions and gave suitable suggestions, the press release informed.

Earlier, Rev. Fr. Roy, Parish Priest, St. Paul Church, Peren invoked God’s blessing followed by welcome address and briefing of Peace Channel by Haipeurangbe Moses, Peren District Coordinator. The training concluded with words of appreciation by Peter, Associate Member of Peace Channel and Teacher Animator of All Saints School, Peren.
