Peletkie students celebrate Golden Jubilee

Peren, December 14 (MExN): Peletkie Students’ Union (PSU) celebrated its Golden Jubilee on December 14 at Peletkie village under Peren district under the theme, “Progress in Unity” with State Information Commissioner Nagaland, GH Ramlia as the special guest. Speaking at the celebration, Ramlia, who was also the founder of PSU opined that the union was formed back in 1968 to install peace and tranquility by handful of people during the time when education was not given due importance by villagers, stated a press release from PSU Gen Secretary Iliegongbe Miliang. “To educate the villagers on cleanliness and hygienic living, students of those days formed the PSU so as to encourage the villagers the advantage of clean and healthy living”, he underscored. He maintained that PSU was formed with one woman in its first team to provide equal platform and to eradicate negative mindset of the people and to replace with unity. The guest maintained that that success is achieved through sincerity, dedication and courage. He encouraged the students not to be distracted by any force in facing competitive exams but urged them to set a target with dedication to achieve their goals. He also encouraged them to be able to receive criticism from all angles with patience. Ramlia further called upon the parents to discipline their children from the very nascent stage thereby leading their children to the path of success. The guest of honour also pointed that sharing and consulting each other boosts knowledge, which is the spirit of team work. Inswabe, whom was also the second PSU president in his short speech, expressed gratitude to God for his blessings, enabling most of the pioneers of PSU to celebrate 50 years of glory in sound health and mind. He maintained that education and generation are moving hand in hand with passage of time, and therefore appealed the students to tussle for education and compete with others but with sincerity and truthfulness. He apprised the students to earn the trust of the villagers, without which he termed that the qualification they have acquired will be of no value. Lekie Mtei Nko (LMN) chairman, Hiawretlang Kenn, in his brief address mentioned that the citizens of Peletkie are blessed with the formation of the union 50 years down the line. PSU president, Bamsina while delivering a brief history of PSU said that the growth of PSU was visible because of the tireless effort rendered by the pioneers of PSU. He also remembered the contribution made by some pioneers who are no more today.
