'People should know Vision 2020'

Tsiepama, April 16 (MExN): Minister of Planning and Coordination, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Evaluation and Parliamentary Affairs T.R. Zeliang today said that India’s Vision 2020 for North East region will never come to reality unless its policy and guidelines are clearly made known to the grassroots level.
“Vision 2020 for North East will only remain a vision and would never come to reality unless its principle and policy and implementing guidelines are clearly made to the villages”, T.R. Zeliang, while addressing the gathering public during the inauguration programme of Tsiepama village gate.
Asserting that self sufficiency can be achieve only through proper planning at the village level, Minister called upon the village councils and VDBs to adopt proper planning process for their own respective village for economic upliftment, and other developmental activities.
Reminding that Nagas are still far behind others because of the reason that almost seventy percent of the food and other essentials produces are imported from other states and abroad. “Unless we are self sufficient and able to export surplus from our own land, we can not claim to be at with other people”, he said adding that villages should make use of their land for economic upliftment through proper planning.
Calling upon the villagers to come up with proper planning and work hard for self-sufficient, T.R. Zeliang said unless there is proper planning at the village and tally with the government programme and policy it will be very difficult for any developmental work to take off and achieve its objection.
He also called upon the villages to maintain distinct Naga village way of living. Nagas cannot be proud of our town or cities because it is too small to compare with others, but the pride of the Nagas lies in our unique village life which have come since time immemorial, he said while adding that lost of village culture and traditions will mean lost of Nagas identity.
T.R. Zelianga also said that in place like Nagaland where population is very less and infrastructure is very poor, the only tourist destinations will be villages. He, however, emphasis on the need to improve village way of life keeping in line with present world.
“Tourist will not come to see big concrete building, but our way of unique life would be the only attraction” he said.
“For Nagas Village is very important historical. I wish let this gate be a gate of peace, prosperity and victory”, he added
Villages men, women and youths presented culture songs. Chotisuh, Parliamentary Secretary, Social Welfare, Azheto, Advisor, Cooperation, Temjen, Chairman NBDA, also attended the programme.
