People's Day of Manipur likely from next month

  Newmai News Network IMPHAL | APRIL 26   Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh’s efforts for the public to have easy access to the government functionaries including legislators will see its practicality likely from next month. A date has also been fixed exclusively for the “hill representatives”.   An official statement of the Manipur Government said today that on the 10th  day of every month “hill representatives” will be allowed to meet Chief Minister from 10 am to 4 pm. If the day is a holiday then the programme will be held on the next working day.   According to the official statement, the Chief Minister will meet village headmen/ village chiefs, elected members of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) and the leaders of hill based civil society organizations for them to voice or highlight their grievances or issues to the Chief Minister directly.   Again, the State Government has designated the 15th day of every month as Meeyamgi Numit or People’s Day. However, if the day is a holiday then the People’s Day will fall on the next working day.   On the day the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, Ministers, the Chief Secretary, the DGP, administrative secretaries, the Heads of Departments, the Deputy Commissioners, the SPs and the SDOs/BDOs will meet the general public in their respective offices from 10 am to 4 pm to place their grievances or issues.
