Peren HQ ground realities undeniable – ZPO

Dimapur, December 2 (MExN): The Zeliang People Organization (ZPO) responds to two village councils in Peren who had denied land dispute over the district’s new administrative complex, after the organization pointed out reasons why offices should not be shifted to the said complex.
The ZPO issued a rejoinder today stating that the organization had only pointed out the ground realities of the issues surrounding shifting of Peren district headquarters.
“No one will deny the fact that there is neither electricity facility nor water supply nor staff quarters nor required office buildings at the new head quarter site. If anyone has any doubt about it, they may find it out by personal spot verification. Therefore we opined that it is not practicable to shift the head quarter at this point of time without proper infrastructural set up,” the ZPO said in the rejoinder. The rejoinder was appended by Kiesamyi, general secretary of the ZPO.
“We only ventilate the genuine grievances faced by the general public and government employees of the district,” the ZPO said.
The ZPO acknowledged that it was not a signatory of the memorandum signed between the government of Nagaland and Peren Village Council, New Peren Village Council and Kezanglwa Village Council for the establishment of extended Peren district headquarter complex.
Nonetheless, the ZPO said: “It is reliably learnt that the government of Nagaland is willing to release the 2nd installment land compensation money to the Peren Village Council and New Peren Village Council but not to the Kezanglwa Village Council on the ground that the Old Jalukie Village Council had filed a petition to the honorable High Court claiming ownership of the extended Peren district headquarter site where the monolith and DC office are established.”
The ZPO also quoted information that Old Jalukie Council had filed a writ petition in the High Court (Writ Petition (C) 143 (K) of 2010) claiming ownership of the site where the present monolith and DC office are.
As a concerned social organization, the ZPO said, it would continue to voice its concerns for the betterment of the people. “No amount of criticism by any organization will minimize our desire to work for the upliftment of our people,” the ZPO added.
