Minister Neiba Kronu addresses awareness seminar on ‘Constitution & Fundamental Duties’

Nagaland’s Planning & Co-Ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu today called upon the people to appropriately perform the Fundamental Duties.

 


Speaking at the awareness seminar on “Constitution & Fundamental Duties” organized by Department of Parliamentary Affairs at Kohima College, the Minister stressed on the need to maintain civic sense, which would, in turn enable the people to exercise the fundamental duties appropriately. “For the younger generation, we are trying our best to give them a better future,” he said.

 


He asked every individual to perform their duties as one cannot perform on behalf of others. Basing on the Fundamental Duties, he called upon the people to promote harmony and brotherhood. Asking the people value and preserve the rich cultural heritage, he also asked the people to protect the public property.

 


Delivering keynote address, Nino Iralu, secretary (Judicial), law & justice department said that in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India, the Government of India has launched a National Campaign focusing on creating awareness regarding a very important feature of the Constitution, ‘The Fundamental Duties.’

 


In line with the rests of the states, state Nagaland has launched a yearlong campaign on Fundamental Duties of the citizen on November 26, which will culminates on November 26, 2020.

 


“The vision is by reaffirming our commitment to the Fundamental Duties enshrined in the Constitution. It is felt that all citizens can play a positive and effective role in fulfilling our duties towards our fellow citizens and to our country,” she said. “As it is our responsibility to take upon our shoulders the task of seeing that order, justice and freedom are maintained,” she added.

 


TB Jamir, Senior Additional Advocate General Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench  called upon the people to take pledge to perform our fundamental duties so as to uphold and strengthen our democracy.

 


Later, Motsuthung Lotha, Commissioner & Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs Nagaland administered pledge to the gathering.
