Phek District GB Association 34th general meeting held

Phek, May 24 (MExN): Phek District GB Association (PDGBA) held its 34th general meeting cum selection of new office bearers for the tenure 2016- 2020, on May 21, at Phek town.  

Murohu Chotso, DC Phek in his speech said that GB institution was set up by the British in the late 19th century. The objective of GB establishment was to represent the village and the government administration to oversee the rule of law on daily basis. “A GB should be a person who knows customary laws and practices,” he added.  

Wezhietsu Mero, Vice President NGBF shared that to achieve amicable solution, peace and unity must be the foremost requisite among the different Naga organizations and political groups. W Kholie Kapfo, General Secretary, Western Chakhesang GB Union, expressed that Nagas do not practice class system, reservation or discrimination.  

Men and women have their own respective equal responsibilities and support/respect one another. 

Others who spoke were Kekhwengulo, President, Chakhesang Public Organisation, Zaposhieiu, President Chakhesang Mothers Association, LP Therie, Chairman Western Chakhesang GB Union and GB leaders from seven units under Phek district. 

The house selected new office bearers for the tenure 2016-2020 headed by Zaduihu Ringa (President) and eleven office bearers an official press release issued by Khrozote Wetsah, General Secretary, PDGBA.
