Phek, Peren DAPCUs conduct HIV and Syphilis test training

  Phek/Peren, June 30 (MExN): Phek District AIDS Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU) conducted HIV and Syphilis test training for district resource team on June 29 at CMO conference hall, Phek. The training was jointly organized by AHANA Project and District Health Administration.   Kutolu, District Media Officer, NHM Phek in a press release informed that Mhonthung Tungoe, Project Officer, AHANA during the training said the main objective of AHANA Project is to improve HIV testing among pregnant women and ensure effective linkages and retention to ART treatment for them and their children through Intensified Case Finding (ICF) approach.   The specific goal of the project is to promote periphery level HIV screening among pregnant women as part of ANC for early identification of positive pregnant women and linking them with PPTCT services, he added. Mhonthung urged the ANMs at the grassroots level to encourage and motivate the pregnant women for mandatory ante-natal check up and screen for HIV.   Nutalu H. Keyho, Counsellor, DSRC District Hospital Phek highlighted the basics of HIV & AIDS and STI/RTI. She also briefed the participants on the signs & symptoms of HIV & AIDS and STI/RTI.   A practical session on whole blood finger prick test of HIV and POC Syphilis screening was imparted by Rukuwe, Lab-Tech MICTC DAPCU Phek. Velato, DA-MNE DAPCU Phek trained the ANMs on how to maintain record registers and filling up of monthly reporting format.   Kuduvo Kezo, District Program Officer (DPO), DAPCU highlighted the importance of PPTCT programs and urged the participants to coordinate with ASHAs and tie up with Village Health & Nutrition Day (VHND) programs for compulsory screening of HIV and Syphilis for ANC attendees.   Peren: The DAPCU Peren in collaboration with Project AHANA and NHM Peren jointly organised training of HIV & Syphilis screening at CHC Jalukie, Peren on June 28.   The objective of the training was to capacitate the periphery level health service providers in HIV & Syphilis screening.   Dr Denis Hangsing, CMO Peren thanked Project AHANA team for the initiative and encouraged the ANMs to be adequate in their field as service providers to the community.   Visevinuo Khrieo, Project Officer, AHANA Project highlighted the goals and activities of the project, which aims to increase the uptake of PPTCT services in the project areas.   Rokhovito Mor, District Programme Officer (DAPCU Peren) trained the ANMs on reporting process and how it should be maintained in the sub centre level. ICTC Jalukie CHC Counsellor, Caroline took a session on the basics of HIV & AIDS, importance of pre and post test counselling and maintaining confidentiality. Lab Technician ICTC CHC Jalukie demonstrated the process of HIV and Syphilis screening.
