Plantation drive reaches Niuland

Dimapur, June 17 (MExN): Dimapur district is undergoing a massive plantation drive commemorating World Environment Day 2018, led by the office of Divisional Forest Officer, Dimapur in collaboration with the district administration.  

A programme in this connection was held on June 15 at ADC conference hall, Niuland. Sushil Kumar Patel (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur addressing the gathering of officials of the sub-division, schools, and NGOs urged the students to spread awareness to help environment.  

He encouraged the students participating in the plantation drive to not only plant, but also nurture the saplings till their full growth, according to a press release from Bokato Sema, Forest Range Officer, Niuland.  

K. Ihevi Aomi, IFS, DFO Dimapur spoke on the significance of World Environment Day and the plantation drive.  

Special number was performed by students of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Niuland and short speech on environment was presented by Piketo Chishi of St. Joseph School, Niuland.  

The programme, chaired by Bokato Sema, Forest Range Officer, Niuland, was followed by plantation drive in and around Niuland.  

The press release informed that Dimapur Forest Division has already distributed 15,000 saplings to the public, NGOs, schools, colleges and army camps for the ongoing plantation drive.
