‘Play positive role in shaping future’

Women church leaders appeal

Kohima, February 24 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council Women Department (NBCCWD) has appealed to the women in Nagaland State to “play a positive role in shaping the future of our society that will honor God.”

With elections to happen on February 27, the Department requested all women to “earnestly pray for our people.”

“Women have always been in the forefront in the move with God-given burden in task of transforming our society through services and involvement,” stated a press release the Department Women’s Secretary, Visasieü Dolie.

Observing that this election has been “more fierce” in nature, the NBCCWD stated, “What has been going on during this election time our will flow into our homes. It is fearful to think because we have seen that we are so much divided to think and behave as if election is everything. Therefore, it is a time to filter and stand against those elements that will come to destroy our homes.”

During the past few weeks, it reminded, women have actively participated in activities such as barefoot march, checking and destroying the illegal flow of liquor and alcohol to towns and villages.

“The fight is far from over but we have done our bit for the welfare of our society in general and for our homes and children in particular,” maintained the Women’s Department.

Hoping that women will “refuse to be influenced in any way that would demean our commitment as Christian women,” the Department called for “stability in our land” as well as the need for “God fearing leaders” who can bring the same.

The Women’s Secretary appealed to the women of Nagaland to “go to the poll without any interference from outside, but be guided by your conscience and do what is right before God rather than before men.”
