With a little over two weeks before the state heads for polls, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland has initiated poster campaign to increase qualitative participation in terms of ethical and informed voting and electoral and democracy education to the people.

Nagaland will go to polls on February 27. Counting of vote has been scheduled for March 3.

Different types of posters bearing catchy words, including Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) information, have already been dispatched to the respective districts by CEO Nagaland.

Slogan

The slogan of posters include: “Knock! Knock! I am democracy. Can I be your friend?”; “Don’t slumber. Participate! Your vote is valuable/precious”; “Today’s right action will decide our bright future”; “This is our moment, let’s grab it and use our freedom of choice wisely”; “Clean election is no more a dream. It’s a reality”; and “Let’s vote for peace and democracy.”

It may be mentioned here that the Election Commission of India (ECI) directs all registered electors to ensure qualitative participation in terms of ethical and informed voting on day of poll as a responsibility.

Earlier, CEO Nagaland appealed to all government departments and credible civil societies to join hands with election department and partners to carry out the work of voter education and awareness campaigns all over Nagaland.

In Nagaland, Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Icons have been creating awareness on electoral participation, ethical and informed voting across the state.
