NU SASRD observes 25th Foundation Day and Freshers Day

Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): Nagaland University, School of Agricultural Sciences & Rural Development (SASRD), Medziphema observed the 25th Foundation Day and 24th Freshers’ Day program on September 6 with Dr Abhijit Mitra, Director, NRC on Mithun, ICAR, Jharnapani, Medziphema as special guest.


Speaking at the function, Dr Abhijit Mitra emphasized on the importance of education and said that all our potentials can be realized with true education.


He urged the students to be creative, mystical, to stand up, arise and not stop until their goal is reached and to never consider themselves as weak. He also said that unity is essential for all round development, a release from Atsungpong Longchar, Info & Publicity Secretary, NU SASRD stated.


Professor T Lanusosang, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SASRD delivered the welcome address and called upon the students to make the best use of their time and the opportunities provided to them and to set goals in whatever they do. He also urged all the faculty and staff for re-commitment and self realization of their works on the occasion.


The Dean, SASRD, Professor AK Makar, in his exhortation acknowledged the vision and approach of the former administrators for their idea which led to the foundation of the University and the commitment of the faculty as well as the cooperation and untiring efforts of the non-teaching staff in bringing the University thus far. He further encouraged the freshers to be the best in all that they endeavored and to remain unique and special.


A brief history of Nagaland University and SASRD was also given by Professor M Aleminla Ao. The programme was chaired by Professor L Tongpang Longkumer and invocation prayer was pronounced by Dr R Nakhro.


The occasion also conferred two employees, Sentiyangla and Lhuno Terhuja with the meritorious awards for regularity, sincerity and efficiency. The Annual School Magazine “Hill Agri” was also released by the Special Guest. The formal programme concluded with the vote of thanks from the President Thejaseto Turhuja. Later on in the evening program, Megolhoukho Salhu and Medoze-u Medoze were crowned Mr & Miss Fresher.
