Pre-Christmas celebrated in Nagaland

Dimapur, December 4 (MExN): Advance Christmas celebrations were held in different places of Nagaland on December 1 & 2.   BJP Dimapur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Dimapur district unit celebrated pre-Christmas with a variety of programmes on December 2 at Hotel Saramati here. State party leaders from Maharashtra also attended the programme, which saw special numbers presented by Aloto Sumi and Tssungla and Tiyan. The event included short speeches by Visasolie Lhoungu, president, BJP Nagaland state unit, James Vizo, convenor, Media Cell BJP Nagaland, and Avinash Koli, former general secretary, organisation in-charge of Nagaland and Manipur, informed a press release from the BJP Dimapur district unit. ‘Christmas challenge’ was delivered by Temjen Imna Along Longkumer, convenor, Finance and Development BJP Nagaland.  

TBHJ: Tyrannus Boys Hostel Jakhama (TBHJ) also celebrated pre-Christmas-cum-11th Hostel Nite on December 2 at the hostel premises situated below St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama. President of Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) Kezhokhoto Savi was the speaker. Savi along with his family presented special number. The hostel warden Thorhu pronounced the invocation and also welcomed the guests. Several special numbers and entertainments were presented by the hostellers, while Rochia shared on ‘What Christmas means to me’, informed a press release from the hostel warden.  

RD Block Chümoukedima: The RD Block Chümoukedima along with its staff and the VDB secretaries under the block held the annual picnic cum advance Christmas on December 1 at Shalom Resort, Gaili village. K. Yamao Konyak, BDO, RD Block Chümoukedima shared Christmas greetings. Invocation prayer was said by Tepu Kheya, VDB Secretary, Khriezephe village, while welcome address was delivered by Medovie Koza, President, VDB Association Chümoukedima. Ruokuovotuo, LDA and NRLM staff presented special number and Christmas carol respectively.  

TDLSA celebrate advent with Khodi Children’s Home

The Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) celebrated advent Christmas with Khodi Children’s Home on December 3.  

Speaking on basic understanding on issues of child rights, Cheliam Khiamniungan, Master Trainer NSLSA said that as children are our future of the society, it becomes so much more important to value their dignity.   She highlighted on their right to life, basic means of existence, nutrition, sanitation, hygiene, diet, access to medical services, to educate and develop them.  

Cheliam apprised that as the home is a childcare institution, they are duty bound to protect the children from all forms of abuse and neglect keeping the best interest of the child. She therefore urged to treat them without discrimination of any kind, be it on family status, the language they speak, culture or any form of disabilities.  

Christmas message was delivered by Kiukhimia, Counselor Khodi Children’s Home and closing remarks by N. Kano, Judicial Magistrate First Class and Secretary TDLSA.  

The gathering was enthralled through songs and drama by Khodi Children’s Home and Christmas cantata by Yimtsusangla Chang, Panel Lawyer TDLSA.   Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Khumriliba, House Father K.C.H. The programme was chaired by Antimangyang, Retainer Lawyer TDLSA.
