Preparation for full immunization coverage underway

Kohima, January 23 (MExN): The District Task Force meeting in connection with IPPI, Mission Indradhanush Phase-IV and De-Worming was held in the DC’s office chamber Kohima under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Soundararajan IAS on January 23.   The meeting began with brief introduction of the activities being carried out under IPPI, NDD and Mission Indradhanush by the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima, Dr. Avinuo Metha.   In the meeting, DPO (RCH-UIP), Dr. Avile informed that IPPI to be held on January 29 and gave report on the background and concept of Mission Indradhanush Phase–IV. She said that the mission focuses on interventions to improve full immunization coverage in India from 65% in 2014 to at least 90% children in the next five years.   Under Kohima District, Mission Indradhanush Phase-IV 2017 will be conducted in Tseminyu block where session sites planned are Tseminyu CHC- 15 sessions site, Chunlikha PHC- 3 sessions site and Tesophenyu PHC- 2 sessions site, she informed. Dr. Avile also highlighted the coverage report of Missions Indradhanush phase III - 2016 where total of 248 coverage for pregnant women and total of 164 of fully immunized children were covered.   Dr. Avile also informed about NDD first round to be held on February 19 for all children in age group of 1-19 years of age and on Mop-up-Day i.e. February 15 for those missed out children. She urged the convergence department of Social Welfare, Education department and Women and Child Development to coordinate and sensitize for better implementation of programmes.   In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner informed all concerned personnel to mobilize the parents, ASHAs and AWW to cooperate with the health workers in their respective areas. He also expressed on the need to create awareness and sensitize the public on immunization, where active participation and support from the concerned departments, NGOs, community leaders, ward councils, religious institutions was required for the successful implementation of the programme.   The Project Officer- UNDP, Rajesh Khartu Monsang also highlighted on Cold Chain which consists of a series of storage and transport links, designed to keep vaccine at recommended temperature from the point of manufacture until it reaches the target beneficiary. He informed that there are 18 Cold Chain Points, 36 CCH trained on eVIN, 7 additional CCH trained on eVIN and 18 mobile phones distributed to CCPs under Kohima District.   In Mokokchung, the District Task force Meeting for Mission Indradhanush (MI), Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI), and National De-worming day (NDD) was held on January 23 at Deputy Commissioner’s office. The meeting was chaired by Sushil Kumar Patel IAS, Deputy Commissioner.   Dr. Temsuyanger, DPO (RCH &UIP) discussed about MI and its nationwide intensified RI drive which aims to cover all the children who are either unvaccinated or are partially vaccinated against 7 vaccine preventable diseases.   He also highlighted about IPPI booth day which is to be held on January 29 at Imlong Place for children in the age group of 0 to 5 years of age and house to house shall be on January 30 and 31.   He also discussed about NDD on February 10 and the mop up team shall be on February 15 and 17 all the children aged between 1 to 19 years through the platform of schools and anganwadi centers in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to educational and quality of life. The distribution of the medicines should be through the concerned Medical Officers and health units.   The DC further appealed to all the departments to co-operate for the success of the programme.
