PBCA launches green mission for a greener, cleaner and healthier Longleng
Longleng, June 10 (MExN): The Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) observed green mission cum world environment day in collaboration with Longleng Forest Division and church’s auxiliary for social action on June 5 at PBCA headquarters, Nyengching Mission Centre, Longleng. The green mission was launched on June 5 on the theme “Preserving God’s Own Green Earth” coinciding with the world environment day.
PBCA green mission is aimed at creating greener, cleaner and healthy environment in Longleng district. Under the aegis of PBCA, Phom Churches carried out cleanliness drive and tree plantations. Around 10,000 tree saplings were planted under the Longleng district commemorating the World Environment Day 2019.
N Tialemba Phom, Executive Secretary PBCA, in his keynote address stated that as much as we care for our spiritual well-being, we must also care for our environment. The initiative of green mission is a response to the threat of global warming and climate change. It is to safeguard the mother Earth for human sustenance.
Satya Prakash Tripathy, PCCF, HoFF and CWLW Nagaland graced the occasion as the special guest. He encouraged the students and children to be brand ambassador of the Forest Department in spreading the message of conservation of nature, forest and wildlife. He also appealed to the villagers to come forward in declaring their forest for wild life conservation.
PBCA expressed gratitude to Longleng Forest Division for providing tree saplings and for extending logistic support towards the Green Mission initiative.
Deputy Commissioner Longleng, John Tsulise Sangtam, Nyenghong Phom, President of Phom Gazetted Officers’ Association, Beizo Soukhrie, IFS DFO Longleng spoke on the occasion. Angbhen chaired the program. A special song was presented by Phom Lempong School, and St Joseph School presented a play on environment. Rev Beaü Phom, Pastor LTBC led the commitment and the closing prayer.
