A prominent citizen of Dimapur and a former electoral contender was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Dimapur on December 18. The victim, Kevi Zakiesatuo (59 years), was found dead in his residential compound located at Golaghat Road, Dimapur around noon today.

According to the Dimapur police, the deceased victim was found with hands and legs tied and the mouth taped outside his personal office.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) told a media briefing in the evening that it was too early to attribute a motive or name suspects but added that a case of murder has been registered. Inquest of the crime scene exhibited signs of struggle and the body bore blunt trauma on the back of the head, which likely caused death. The signs at the scene inferred the murder likely occurred in his personal office chamber and the body dragged out to the open a few metres outside the office, he added.

“We are not ruling out any possibility and making all out effort to deliver justice,” said CP Limasunep Jamir, while informing that a Special Investigation Team headed by the ADCP (Crime) has been constituted to probe the case.
