Proposal for railway connectivity to Tuli

DIMAPUR, MAY 19 (MExN): A proposal for extension of a 15-mile railway track from 10th mile station Tuli to Tsumok under Merangkong village jurisdiction, Mokokchung district was submitted to the Union Minister of Railways, Suresh Prabhu on Thursday.  

A press note from state president, Narendra Modi Vichar Manch (NMVM), Nagaland Unit S. Lepzung Jamir who met the union minister termed the meeting as “fruitful” and that the railways minister agreed to “expedite the matter at the earliest.”  

Tuli town is the biggest non- district town in Nagaland and the commercial hub of Mokokchung district and extension of the present railway track and providing of passenger train would have a positive impact on the economic activity specially for six major Districts namely Mokokchung, Longleng, Zunheboto, Tuensang, Kiphire and some parts of Mon district of Nagaland, the press note stated.  

The state president of NMVM also urged the union minister to send a survey team at the earliest for preparation of Detail Project Report (DPR) for the said work. The minister reportedly assured that he shall take the necessary action to expedite the work.
