Public reception for RN Ravi on Oct 23

Dimapur, October 21 (MExN): The NTC along with ENPO, NGBF, CNTC and other CSOs will be organising a Public Reception for RN Ravi, the interlocutor for Naga talks at Dimapur Airport on October 23.

The interlocutor will be landing in Dimapur for talks with the NNPGs Working Committee. The Government of India (GOI) and the Working Committee (WC) of 6 Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) officially began the maiden political dialogue on September 27 in New Delhi.

A press release from Public Reception Committee Convenor Theja Therieh and Member Secretary Akhum Aying implied that the reception is being organised appreciating the GoI for “graciously responding to the popular demand of the people” to officially invite the NNPGs Working Committee for a political dialogue to bring out a lasting solution to the protracted Naga political problem.

“This positive development is leading the political process to a higher level with an objective to have inclusive talk on equal footing with a hope to provide a sustainable peace in our land,” it added.   It also lauded the gesture of GOI for bringing the talk to Naga soil with a renewed spirit to connect with the people and to rebuild the trust which has been missing for a long time.

“This level playing field of taking everyone together will usher in a new hope for a new future.”

The Reception Committee also requested the general public and all concerned citizens to gather at the Dimapur airport for a grand public reception on October 23 at 12:30PM.

It further appealed to all the village councils along NH-29 to mobilize its members and receive the interlocutor as he makes his way to Chumoukedima at their respective localities along the way.

The CSOs representing mass-based civil organizations and tribal bodies will hold a felicitation programme with the interlocutor at Rhododendron Hall, Police Officer’s Mess, Chumoukedima after the reception programme.

For the facilitation programme and the ensuing peace talks, all the Churches in Nagaland are also requested to pray for the programme on October 22 and disseminate information for public attendance as well, the release added.
