Publish SIT report in public domain: ENCSU

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 13 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has asked the State Government to publish the SIT report in the public domain at the earliest. The SIT was set up by the State Government for investigation on the non disbursement of Post-Matric Scholarship for 2016-17.

ENCSU president M Longre Chang and general secretary WangNei C Jessuhu in a press release on Tuesday stated that the SIT had already submitted its report to the Government of Nagaland through the Chief Secretary on January 31, 2018.

Cautioning the State Government that taking light note of such an issue of grave concern could compel the ENCSU to take “extreme measures,” the students’ body said it have shown enough patience and understanding in dealing with the issue, and now the onus was on the state government to show its capability in tackling the issue.   It also made absolutely clear that nothing short of the exact copy of the report would be acceptable.

The ENCSU further urged the State Government to register FIR against to those involved in the misuse of fund and immediately arrest those people as per the law.

Meanwhile, the ENCSU reminded the Department of Higher Education to state the specific reason for not receiving the 4th installment from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs even after producing the assurance to disburse full amount of scholarship before Christmas 2017. It also asked the concerned department to notify and call up the student beneficiaries who are yet to receive even the first installment.

On the event of the State Government failing to meet their demands, the ENCSU warned that it was ready to execute further course of action as deemed fit. In this connection, it has requested all the students and the Naga people in general to be “prepared for the showdown.”
