Nagaland: Putting in all efforts for foothill road to become reality, says NFHRCC

MORTH to take up foothill road project under nomenclature of ‘Trans Expressway’

Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has appealed the public to have faith in the government, contractors and NFHRCC while stating that it was putting in all efforts see that the road construction becomes a reality.

 

Briefing media persons on September 12 in Dimapur after its meeting, the NFHRCC said that it had resolved to meet the Nagaland Chief Minister at the earliest to request him to issue work orders to the contractors for the 8 km uncut portion and other developmental activities. The 8 km uncut portion includes 5 km in Niuland area and 3 km in Naginimora area.

 

Recalling its meeting with CM during first week of August in Dimapur, NFHRCC Convenor, Supu Jamir said, “NFHRCC remembers the assurance of CM that 8 km uncut portion will be carried out with the onset of working season.” On the same day, the CM requested the Committee to furnish No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by landowners that ‘No Compensation” would be claimed by them. Supu said that the Committee had accordingly handed over the NOC to the CM.

 

It was also informed that the CM on his return from Delhi had assured the NFHRCC that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had given green signal to take up the foothill road under the nomenclature, “Trans Expressway (Foothill Road).

 

Another meeting was held at the CM’s official residence in Kohima on August 28 when the CM reassured that the road project would “not be derailed under any circumstances.”

 

NFHRCC also informed that it had invited the contractor of Doyang Bridge, Liphanyan, M/S Pukhato Shohe & Sons  on September 1, 2018 and had a lengthy deliberation during which the contractor had given written assurance to NFHRCC that the works would be resumed with the onset of working season.

 

In view of the mentioned circumstances, NFHRCC appealed the public to have “full faith on the assurance given by CM to the effect that the CM will fully take care of the foothill road construction.”
