Rains cause flash flood in Khuzama

  DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 22 (MExN): Incessant rainfall during the past few days has severely affected Khuzama Village under Jakhama Sub-division, Kohima district as sudden flashflood occurred in the wee hours around 2:00 am on October 22.   The flash flood damaged at least six houses with the families unable to retrieve any property, a press note from the Khuzama Village authorities informed. The flood also took away livestock and poultry reared by the villagers besides destroying the paddy-fields. Though some physical injuries were caused, no lost of life has occurred. Further, the route to TB Hospital, Eden Garden Orphanage and several families of the village remains completely cut off. Moreover, the main drinking water reservoir of the village was also completely washed in the flashflood.   SDO (Civil) Jakhama, Alemyapang Longchar along with her team, Khuzama Village Council and Southern Angami Youth Organisation assessed the damages caused by the flashflood.   However the entire damage caused is yet to be fully ascertained while the village authorities are examining the source of the flashflood.
