Recruitment strike effects normal life in Manipur

Newmai News Network Imphal | August 25   Supply of consumer items, including fuel, have been seriously affected by the ongoing economic blockade along the two National Highways, the two key supply lines of Manipur.   JAC of All Manipur Written Test Successful Candidates of Police Constable (Male) 2013 has resorted to the blockade stir after the state government recently cancelled the results of the DPC held in 2013.  

Meanwhile, Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today appealed to the striking cop aspirants to withdraw their stir in the larger interest of the general public.   "Notification has been issued for a fresh recruitment process where all the striking constable candidates whose results have been cancelled should take part," Gaikhangam told pressmen at ISKCON complex where he was participating in Krishna Janmashtami celebration.   He claimed the government had detected  gross irregularities in the recruitment process of the over 2000 police constable candidates leading to its cancellation. and appealed to them not to indulge in agitation further.   "I also appealed to those who are on stir to cooperate with the government. Action will be taken against all who are responsible for the whole problem," he assured.   Further, the Manipur Deputy CM, who is also holding additional charge of Home, informed that age bar will not be a hurdle for the already constable candidates in the fresh recruitment process.   "The government will allow them to take part in the recruitment of police constables to be conducted in district-wise manner," he said.   The JAC, meanwhile, has vowed to intensify their stir until the cancellation order is withdrawn by the government. The government's move also drew condemnations from political parties including the state unit of BJP.   Manipur government admits to lapses in police recruitment test Imphal, August 25 (IANS): Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam Gangmei on Thursday admitted to lapses in the recruitment test of 2,000 police constables here and said action would be taken against the officials who manipulated the candidates' scores.   The government was "constrained with a heavy heart to cancel the recruitment results", said Gangmei, who is in charge of the state Home Department. The selection process had started in 2013.   He said that once an internal inquiry is concluded, the officials guilty of tampering with test results and candidates' scores shall be booked.   Highly placed sources said that candidates who had failed the tests were selected for recruitment. One candidate had submitted two answer papers in two different handwritings.
